Alexander Duffield

BACP Accredited Practitioner

About me

I work in a supportive and collaborative way. I help individuals to take a step back and look at their thoughts and feelings. This helps them to remember rather than re-live painful experiences. This mourning process enables individuals to then make more rewarding and fulfilling life choices more suited to their present circumstances.

I qualified in 2006, became accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 2011 and have been working full time as a counsellor since 2011. I have a particular interest in trauma and how it can lead to us feeling cut off from ourselves and others as well as to disabling anxiety.

I have considerable experience of working with adults who suffered trauma. I worked at Hospice in the Weald as a paid counsellor for 3 years. So I have experience of supporting people who are living with illness as well as the bereaved. I also worked as a counsellor at SurvivorsUK a charity supporting men who have been sexually violated at any point in their lives for 5 years. In addition, I have worked as an 'employment assistance' counsellor for 2 years supporting people facing work related problem or issues which affect their work.

I am an approved counsellor with Aviva, PruHealth and WPA. Please contact your insurer about how to claim.

I am committed to working in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental way and follow the code of ethics of the BACP.
