Antonella Caraglia

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

About me

I am a Chartered Psychologist, a Systemic-Relational Psychotherapist also trained as a Family Therapist, working with Individuals, Couples and Families.

Languages: English and Italian.

Working together, we will explore your present situation in a confidential, secure and comfortable setting. We will activate resources from inside you and find new strategies to effectively deal with your life events.

WHY THERAPY?
When we are struggling with our painful feelings, we could feel ourselves confused and unable to move in life.
In life a journey has many ups, downs and unforeseen events and it is sometimes helpful to handle these with support.

Whether this is anxiety, relationship difficulties, workplace stress; whether you are dealing with stressful life events such as divorce and separation, illness or loss of a loved one, work-related stress, career development, motivation, low self-esteem, depression, body image issues, addictions, psychosexual difficulties or parent-child conflict, I am focused in supporting you with achieving greater clarity on the issues you bring and be aware of your choices.

COUNSELLING AND THERAPY
I strongly believe that the main purpose of both a psychotherapy and a counselling process is to support people through their process of self-awareness.

My job is helping people to look at themselves in a new way, to find new opportunities, new strategies, to think of their life no more as a one-way street but rather as a multiple-option path, to help them to make their choices freer and then find their own way to be themselves.
Self-awareness is often the key to make you feel self-confident, fully in charge of your own life.
Having a clear perception of you, of your thoughts, emotions and believes, of your strengthens and weaknesses can help you to effectively achieve your goals and cope with difficulties, changes and crisis that you can find on your way.

During my professional experience, I have learnt that everybody possesses the capacity to develop and improve their skills and activate hidden resources from inside in order to become a more satisfied person, a better professional and achieve personal and shared success. I have always studied and worked strongly believing in this.

A FIRST STEP
When thinking of therapy, it is perfectly normal to be unaware of the length and depth of therapy that is correct for you or what may be suitable.
I suggest that you get in touch and we can arrange an initial meeting. This will be an opportunity to meet and discuss your concerns.
There is no commitment to continue at this stage. If, after our first meeting, we decide to proceed, we would arrange a time that is convenient for both.

Training and qualification

I am a qualified psychologist and a psychotherapist with a Master's Degree in Clinical and Community Psychology and a Postgraduate Master’s degree in Systemic-Relational Therapy – Family Therapy, also specialised in Work and Organisational Psychology and Human Resources Management.
I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) – CPsychol and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also registered with the Italian Council of Psychologist (“Consiglio Nazionale Ordine Psicologi" – CNOP) since 2007, as a psychologist and as a psychotherapist.
Since 2006, I have always worked in clinical practice with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.
Before starting my private practice, I have been a counsellor, a psychologist and a psychotherapist working and volunteering in the public sector, such as in the University Hospital and in the Complex Operative Unit - Family and Immigration Advisory Centre. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work in a range of psychological and therapeutic environments, with people from different backgrounds and at different stages of their lives.
Having obtained a Postgraduate University Master in Organisation, Workplace Psychology, Human Resources Management and Labour laws, I have worked for eight years as a counsellor within the field of work and organisational psychology, assessing and coaching people to gain their professional goals, improve their well-being at work, motivation, performance appraisal and management, leadership, employee engagement and commitment.
