Arzum Gulsar

BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist

About me

Arzum is a Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist offering a warm, empathic and reflective environment to explore emotional distress and obstacles in life.
She works as a specialist in a secondary care NHS service offering therapy for complex and chronic psychiatric disorders, and has a private practice which she runs from multiple central London locations.

Apart from offering evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Arzum also specialises in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Acceptance& Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as mindfulness and coaching. Given her wealth of training and experience, Arzum tailors therapy to clients’ needs and takes often an eclectic approach.

The aim is to explore the root of emotional difficulties and barriers we may be creating in moving forward, and offering effective interventions, in order to enable clients to overcome such.
Therapy offered often depends on the complexities clients bring into the sessions, varying from short to longer-term sessions.

Disorders and difficulties Arzum offers help with include:
-Unhealthy negative emotions e.g. hurt, anger, shame, guilt, envy, jealousy
-Mood Disorders e.g. depression, post-natal depression, Bipolar Affective Disorder
-Anxiety Disorders e.g. stress and worry, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Hypochondriasis etc
-Impulse Control Disorders e.g. skin picking and compulsive hair pulling or self-harm
-Complex presentations: hoarding, Body Dysmorphic Disorder etc

Arzum aims to enable clients to alleviate distress, by increasing self-awareness, taking on a healthy perspective, breaking unhelpful patterns, adapting more functional coping, and working towards our values which make life meaningful.
