Emma Murray

BACP Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist

About me

I'm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the BACP. My aim is to offer you a safe, supportive environment, and a trustworthy relationship in which you can explore what’s troubling you at your own pace and in your own way.

I'm an integrative therapist. This means I'm trained to draw on a number of therapeutic approaches, so that we can work together to find a way of doing therapy that fits you and your preferences. For some, this might mean approaching therapy in a relatively practical, problem solving way; for others, it might mean something different, such as thinking about ways of relating to others, the impact of past experiences, or using creative techniques as way into exploring thoughts and feelings. Whichever way we find to work together, my priority is to listen to you. I seek to help you gain insight into yourself and your experiences, to think through and bring about change, and to support you with warmth, humanity and respect.

I have worked with clients bringing a broad range of concerns to counselling, including stress, depression, and difficulties with relationships or self-esteem. I have a particular interest in working with anxiety and 'over-worrying', and with clients wanting to think about how they relate to others.

I’ve worked with clients of varying backgrounds, ages and genders. Previously, I volunteered as a counsellor in a low cost clinic in south London and as a school counsellor. I worked for many years as a tutor to young people and came to counselling through a desire to support people and through my own personal experience of therapy. I know that choosing to go to therapy is a brave decision. It can feel difficult at times, and bring up painful feelings. My role is to sit alongside you in working through whatever you bring.

Being BACP registered means I believe in and am bound by their ethical framework, which puts your wellbeing and best interests first.

I'm currently working both in person from Ongea, and online, so do contact me to talk through your preferences.
