About me

I am a qualified counsellor with over ten years of experience in the field and I am currently completing my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I am registered with The British Psychological Society (BPS). As an integrative counsellor, I draw on the approaches that best suit the issues that clients bring into therapy and work on a short or long term basis, depending on the client's needs, working towards goals that are important to the client.
I currently work in private practice with both adults and members of the younger generation (aged 7+). I have extensive experience working with adults and members of the younger generation with depression and/or anxiety, behavioral issues, as well as issues relating to the family. I aim to provide an empathic, supportive space where clients can open up and feel seen and heard for who they truly are. While counselling helps clients to process difficult or painful thoughts and feelings, I believes that therapy can also focus on the potential of my clients. I work with my clients to identify and draw on their inner resources to live a fuller, more satisfying life. I use Person-Centred and CBT to identify patterns in their thoughts and behaviours; Psychodynamics to help clients to identify and address the root cause of their problems; Transactional Analysis to help clients manage their relationships in a healthier way; and Mindfulness to help tame anxious responses.
My experience includes working with low mood, depression and anxiety, stress, self-harm, bereavement and loss, couples counselling, trauma, alcohol and drug misuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, abuse, agoraphobia, OCD, panic attacks, adjustment to difficult life events or illness, and many other issues. I understand the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies. I work with her clients to identify healthier ways of managing emotions and stress, and also has a special interest in eating disorders.
