Amali Hapugoda

BACP Registered Counsellor

About me

I have worked in mental health within the NHS for the past six years, and continue to do so. I believe that every individual is different and brings their unique life experience to therapy. For this reason, within private practice, I work with clients on an individual basis who may present with a broad range of concerns regardless of their backgrounds. I provide a non judgemental safe space to explore your emotions and difficulties. I also work with survivors of domestic abuse on a voluntary basis, and those who are troubled by grief.

My particular areas of clinical interests are Anxiety, depression, phobias, low self-esteem, eating disorders, sexual abuse, trauma, Insomnia, and grief. It is evident that individuals may share a number of emotional difficulties across all of these categories, each person bringing an individual story and need as appropriate.

My approach is integrative. That is, I choose to draw from a wide range of available theoretical and evidence-based models in order to meet the needs of any one client at any particular time on their journey towards resolution. In this way, I am able to work with a client within a collaborative and client-focussed paradigm, and to tailor a programme of therapy best suited to each individual. The programme may be subject to change as a client makes progress over time, and subject to on-going review.
